In Nepal if we look at the overall scenario about 30% of the total population is unemployed including seasonal jobs and business as well. Every year Nepalese youths enter the job market and among them only ten percent are absorbed in domestic market and due to youths have to go to abroad for job opportunity. It is said that twenty percent out of the total population of Nepal reside outside of the home and at least one family member are absent in 53% of households of Nepal out of which 28 % members are residing outside of the country. In this sense, remittance is the major source for economy of this country. The dreadful situation of unemployment can be present through a recent news report which said that when Nepal Electricity Authority, a government-owned power corporation opened for vacant seat for a certain job for youths, they received 120, 00 applications for the 600 vacant seats.

Political instability, lack of basic infrastructures, skilled based knowledge to the common people, corruption are some of the major causes of the alarming unemployment in Nepal. And unemployment being a social problem in itself raises further social problems like poverty, alcoholism, domestic violence, depression, suicidal tendencies and so on. Therefore, it is necessary to take applicable steps that can help to decrease the unemployment problem in Nepal. Nepal being a country rich with natural beauty development of tourism can be important aspect for employment opportunity. Rise of adventure tourism, research for places which can attract tourists, activities that entertain tourists can be focused which will improve tourism sector and ultimately employment.

Likewise, proper utilization of self-employment fund that government provision provides can also be wisely used for in order to involve youths in income opportunities. Likewise, Nepal still being an agricultural country focus on the improvement of agriculture, increase of agrobased industries can also support for the positive change. And most importantly, if the government is stable and there is good governance, though gradually but the problem of unemployment will definitely be solved in long run.
