Green symbolizes green Bangla i.e. green environment and red symbolizes the sacrifices of the martyrs of language movement that took place in 1952. At the same time it also denotes the sacrifice of the martyrs of liberation war in 1971 where 3million people sacrificed their lives for the independence of Bangladesh from the Pakistani colonial rules. Every morning, the red sun reminds Bangladeshi the bloody war of independence.
