[International Exchange program –Finale]

The finale of our series about exchange program in Japan will provide a brief description of a well-known, widely-popular among Asian Youth, which has long been called as The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP). This annual program has been carried out by the Government of Japan with the active participation and cooperation of 10 Southeast Asian countries for the last 40 years.

SSEAYP is designed with an aim to foster friendship and mutual understanding among the youths of Southeast Asian countries and Japan. Approximately 30 delegates from each country will gather in Japan and enjoy the country’s cultural wonders for several days before boarding the ship to travel to 6 other destinations. The participants together have a chance to broaden their perspective on the world, and strengthen their spirit of international cooperation through various activities on board and in different port-of-calls in 6 other host countries besides Japan. Leadership capability and international collaboration skills are the two most important requirements for participants in such a globalizing program. Lives onboard the ship, introducing each other about their countries, participating in discussions and various exchange activities both onboard and in the countries to be visited will become the most beautiful memories for all participants.

This year will see the advent of the 41st batch of SSEAYP which officially starts in early November. The unofficial sailing route for the ship includes visiting Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, and then coming back to Japan.
If you want to be a part of SSEAYP or other exchange programs, be ready to receive some useful tips for us which will guide you how to prepare for application and interview. See you next weeks
