[International Exchange programs 2 -Japan-]
To continue the interesting flow of exchange programs since last week, we will introduce another type of exchange today, which is studying long-term in some famous universities in Japan. The country is so well-known for its reliable education system that it attracts a large number of overseas students every year. Although studying abroad in Japan is very popular with a variety of kinds such as Japanese Government Scholarship Students (Monbukagakusho: MEXT), privately financed scholarships and exchange programs, in this article we will only focus on exchange programs.
This program is specially designed for students whose institutions have a university-level student exchange agreement with colleges and universities in Japan. Those schools in Japan will send the application guide to partner universities in all over the world to call for participants. When admitted, students will take ordinary courses which are taught in Japanese or English in undergraduate faculties or in graduate schools. Usually classes are given in Japanese so students should have Japanese language proficiency. Apart from academic work, students also bear a chance to experience Japanese culture and lifestyle as they spend a long time there. Some choose to stay in the dormitory to enjoy international atmosphere with foreign students while the other head to home stay family. Thanks to this type of program, students can not only attain useful knowledge from one of the best education systems in the world but also brush up their language ability and culture experience.
At present, almost every Japanese university has a special exchange program for overseas students. You can search for information on their website or seek help from The Japan Foundation and our fan page.
We still have one more specialty for you next week. Don’t switch the channel as we are coming back shortly.
