AAEE, Asia Association of Education & Exchange(一般社団法人アジア教育交流研究機構)さんの写真 Meeting new people and making new friends, specially foreign friends us an exciting experience. When people from different countries meet each other, there is the learning and sharing of cultures and practices. With this goal in mind Asian Association of Education and Exchange organised an exchange program named "Mero Saathi" exchange program. It is a two week program starting from 13th february to 24th february.
The Program kicked off with the Nepalese members going to receive the Japanese members from the airport. The Nepalese members were waiting at the terminal with the Mero Saathi banner. When both the Nepalese and the Japanese members first saw each other, there was so much excitement . They were waving at each other. The Nepalese members gave them a traditional welcome with "khaad" and "abir (red tika)". Japanese members were all "Namastey" and Nepali members were all "Yokoso". They were introducing each other. It seemed like the members have learned few greeting words of each others countries. Nepalese members were surprised with the size of Japanese members' luggage. Very huge, very heavy. One bag at front, one at the back and one in hand. Then they checked in to the hotel Backpacker's Inn at Thamel. During the afternoon tea in the hotel, they introduced each other properly and talked about education, hobbies, etc. The Japanese members also distributed the Mero Saathi band which they designed to raise fund for the earthquake victims of Nepal. It was a tiuching gesture on their part.
After that the members roamed around the area of Thamel. Japanese members exchanged their currency. All the newly acquainted friends talked about the Valentine's Day which was the next day. It was so much fun. At the end they met with the Program Co-ordinator Mr. Kshitiz Bhattarai. After that the Nepalese members said their goodbyes.
So far, although the members were new to each other, they talked like they were old friends. There was the usual talk about family, food and some of the Nepalese practices. Japanese members were very enthusiastic about their visit to Nepal while the Nepalese members were excitedly telling them about Nepal. Although it was the first day, the excitement for the coming days and the budding friendship could be clearly seen. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the coming days.
